Newport Oregon Charter Fishing
Rockfish are firm and flavorful and can be caught with a variety of techniques such as reeling up from the bottom with jigs, imitation flies, or bait. Our main targeted species are black, blue, canary, deacon, and china rockfish. Depending on the season and location, you may also encounter other species including the prized lingcod and cabezon to make for a memorable fishing trip!
This is primarily an “offshore trip” targeting Halibut in the deep waters (often over 500 ft.) off of Newport. During this popular trip we often intercept large rockfish, lingcod, petrale sole and blackcod while bouncing the bottom for those big flatfish. Additionally, when we land our limits of halibut we will target the rockfish and ling for the remainder of the full 12 hour trip.
Whale watching and crabbing offers a unique and memorable experience of the coast. We take you to where the bounty of the Oregon coast meets the majesty of the ocean's gentle giants. After dropping the well-baited crab pots, enjoy looking towards the rugged cliffs and sloping hills of Newport . Sighting gray whales spouting, feeding, and playing in their natural environment is truly awesome.
Salmon trolling off is an adrenaline-pumping adventure that puts anglers against some of the most sought-after fish in the Pacific. When that rod suddenly bends and the line screams off the reel, it's pure excitement! Be ready because the bite can come and go at any moment! Chasing these powerful, fast-swimming salmon is an unforgettable experience that combines skill, patience, and heart-racing action.
We will target coho and chinook salmon early in the trip, as they bite best in the morning, followed by drift fishing for rockfish and lingcod on our local reefs. We will take you to the most productive spots for both species and occasionally when the salmon are located offshore, we will have an opportunity to fish deeper for rockfish and Lingcod. All the tackle and bait and ice is provided.

Experience thrilling lingcod fishing! We target these hard-fighting predators in their rocky habitats using live bait and proven lures. Peak season is fall, winter, and spring. Two-fish limit (22-inch minimum). Excellent eating.
For a huge rockfish haul, join our Rockfish long leader trips! We target abundant offshore species including yellowtail, canary, and widow rockfish, often catching boccaccio and other deepwater species. This specialized technique maximizes hookups and avoids snags, with a 10-fish limit. Experience a productive and memorable day on our offshore rockfish grounds!
This is a “specialty” or “freelance trip” as Halibut and Salmon are seldom offered in a combination charter trip. Scheduling this trip requires concurrent regulations and the presence of Halibut and Salmon in the same general offshore area. In 2024 we offered this trip with great success and are looking forward to a repeat during the 2025 season.
This is a “specialty” or “freelance” offshore trip targeting Shark and Large Halibut. These species can often be found in the same location and provide the fight of your life while offering great table fare. Blue shark are the prevalent shark species, which we catch and release after high fives and photos! We use big baits and local knowledge to target the bigger halibut.
Hook UP !!!!! Come experience the thrill of albacore fishing: screaming line, head shakes and an amazing fight all the way to the boat! When the Tuna are “in” everyone goes tuna crazy. Our trips are different than the normal tuna charter as we design our time to be on the fishing grounds in the morning and evening which are the magic times for biting albacore.
